0203 – Understanding Niche Markets

There are two types of niche markets that you can consider when deciding what type of product you want to offer. Trend based markets rise up quickly and can be very profitable in the short run, while evergreen markets will always be full of people looking for answers and so can provide a steady income for as long as you want to be of service in that area.

Trend-Based Niche Markets

There are some topics that are trendy, and you can make fast, easy money on those if you stay alert and responsive. For example, let’s say the Zika virus is big in the news right now. You could create a specific eBook on protecting yourself from mosquito-borne illnesses and launch it to the survival crowd.

You could also create blog posts recommending top protection from mosquito bites. That might include repellent, nets, bracelets, and even more expensive items like traps – all of which would pay a commission to you.

The issue with trend based markets is that you need to be quick in order to get your products and promotions ready in time to be one of the first to provide solutions for your potential customers.

Evergreen Niche Markets

On the opposite side would be the evergreen niche market. That might be a bit broader such as a broad survival site or a general survival health site where you could recommend things that are always on the minds of that demographic.

Anti Aging and Weight Loss are two more examples of evergreen niche markets. There will always be people fighting the aging process and trying to lose weight. But there will also be trend patterns such as fad diets, which will allow your profits to spike temporarily.

If you decide on an evergreen topic, you can still keep an eye out for those trends to see how you can take advantage of them and value to how you serve your customers.
