01 – Is Your Mindset Holding You Back?

Let’s be real, here. We all need money to survive. In order to have a happy life, you need to have enough money to be comfortable. But sometimes, some of us end up feeling a little guilty about this.

Maybe you were raised to see money as evil. It’s not. Maybe you grew up thinking that people in business had to be selfish and greedy. Not true. We are all just trying to survive and pay our bills.

Maybe you have a nagging suspicion that other people can have money, but not you. You just aren’t “one of those” people.

We make judgments about people based on how much money they have, and often rich and poor are equally maligned. If you’re poor you must’ve done something wrong to deserve such hardship. If you’re rich, you must’ve done something shady to get all that money.

Not only are these judgments false, but when we make them we are also judging ourselves. If you don’t have the money or the lifestyle you would like, you judge yourself by the same criteria. You think that you must be unworthy somehow. These false judgments can hinder your success and hold you back.

Do You Feel Worthy of Being Paid?

In many cases, people start a new venture with hopes that this time things will work; this time it will be better. But if you have an underlying suspicion that you aren’t worthy of having money, you will start to sabotage yourself.

This feeling of low self-worth is a problem that most of us have to deal with at some point in our lives. For some, though, it can be a crippling problem that affects your entire life. It can keep you from achieving important goals and becoming all that you can be.

Recognize What is Keeping You from Success

There are several things to keep in mind and constantly work on if you don’t feel worthy of being paid well for your work.

You may feel that you’re not good enough at your job for people to pay you for anything you do. Or, you may underestimate (or overestimate) the work you do.

Many of our unworthy feelings may come from what we experienced in childhood and others from negative life experiences as an adult.

Whatever the reason you feel you don’t deserve a good price for your work efforts – it can be overcome. Make it a practice to replace those negative voices with positive ones so that you feel worthy of earning and gaining wealth.
